Rossa is a fiery, spirited mare with a past as a barrel racing horse. We’re still piecing together the details of her early life, but one thing is certain—she was built for experienced riders, and not for quiet, easygoing rides.

Before coming to us, Rossa was in the hands of an owner who didn’t prioritize the well-being of his animals. She was nearly sold off by this owner to an older man looking for a calm, steady horse for solo trail rides. This man had already purchased a horse from the same seller, but when he came to the farm, he admitted that the horse was too energetic and difficult for him to handle. Rossa, with her strong-willed and high-energy nature, would have been an even worse match.

He wanted money, and wanted it fast. If she didn't sell, it was likely she would go off to the meat slaughter. Instead of ending up in another horrible situation, Rossa found safety with us. She’s intelligent, independent, an absolute master at being an escape artist, and she's so full of personality—qualities that make her incredible in the right environment, but challenging in the wrong hands. Now, she has the freedom to be herself, running with her herd and living a life that truly suits her.
