Winz is a resilient little pony with a story that almost took a much darker turn. He was one of six horses we rescued from an owner who cared more about making a profit than about the well-being of the animals in his care. Now in prison, this man would buy and resell horses without disclosing their health conditions, trying to squeeze as much money out of them as possible.

Winz, a beautifully bred pony, was considered valuable on paper—but in reality, he suffered from allergies and other health conditions that made him unsuitable for high-ticket sales. Because of this, there were discussions about sending him to slaughter. Worse yet, they even considered removing his microchip and placing it in a lower-value horse to fraudulently sell that one for more.

Thankfully, we stepped in before that could happen. Winz now has a safe, loving home where he’s no longer just a number in someone’s profit scheme. He’s a sweet, intelligent pony with a gentle nature, and he deserves a life where he’s valued for who he is—not just for how much money he could bring in.
